Hey gang! Focus Features just released a trailer for their upcoming French horror film Raw and I’m pretty stoked. It’s the feature debut for both writer/director Julia Ducournau and star Garance Marillier.

Here’s the broad strokes. The setting is a veterinary school. Justine comes from a long line of vegetarian veterinarians. She’s the victim of some carnivorous hazing incident that causes her to have an unnatural craving for meat.

Now, I’m a vegetarian. So, I take a special joy in watching other people squirm in their seats at a movie that shows society’s typical violence towards animals. One of the first movies Old Sport and I ever saw together was Babel. There’s a scene that freaked everyone out where a chicken ran around with it’s head cut off. We just chuckled. If the trailer for Raw is any indication, it’s gonna give us plenty of those moments.
